Mon 28 Christchurch to Dunedin
Travel
across the Canterbury Plains to Timaru and on to Oamaru. View the
unique Moeraki Boulders before reaching Dunedin City, the 'Edinburgh
of the South'.

sightseeing tour of Dunedin, see a superb collection of classic
Victorian and Edwardian buildings.

Wed 30 Dunedin to Te Anau (B)

See
the Royal Albatross Colony and historic features of Fort Taiaroa,
a one hour scenic cruise to view marine and bird life is also included.
Travel
south through the towns of Milton and Balclutha, crossing the Clutha
River to Gore and on to Lumsden. There are magnificent views of
the mountains of Fiordland and a wide panorama view of Lake Te Anau

Follow
the valley of the Eglinton River before descending into the Hollyford
Valley. Climb steadily to where sheer rock faces dwarf the Homer
Tunnel portal. From the tunnel descend into the Cleddau Canyon and

Anau

through farmland and tussock country to Five Rivers and on through
undulating countryside to the southern end of Lake Wakatipu, skirt
the shore of the lake in the shadow of the Remarkables Range to
the resort town of Queenstown.

is free to enjoy Queenstown at your own leisure. This evening cruise
on the TSS Earnslaw to the Colonel's Homestead at Walter Peak for
a carvery style buffet in the homestead and get a glimpse into farming
life before cruising back to Queenstown
Sun 03 Queenstown to Franz Josef (BD)

Follow
the Kawarau Gorge through to Cromwell and the picturesque township
of Wanaka, continue along the shores of Lakes Hawea and Wanaka,
crossing the divide at the Haast Pass then north along the west
coast pass Fox Glacier and on to Franz Josef.

to weather).

through dense bush and beautiful stretches of road to Hokitika and

Tue 05 Greymouth to Christchurch (BLD)

Step
back in history to the gold rush days of New Zealand, when you visit
Shantytown, an re-creation of a gold mining town during the boom
days of the 1880's with steam train ride and gold-panning. Lunch
is included.
Depart
Greymouth on the Tranzalpine train, push through the Otira Tunnel
and thick rainforest and native bush to high country grasses as
you make your way over the main divide, continue over towering viaducts
to the braided rivers fed by the many snowfields, descending through
the foothills of the Southern Alps and over the Canterbury Plains
to Christchurch. This evening we have a farewell dinner at a local bowling club.
