Christchurch New Zealand will host the 11th World Bowls Championship from 12 to 27 January 2008 and for the first time both the men's and women's events will be held together at the same venue.

The Burnside Bowling Club will be the headquaters for this event and venue for the opening and closing ceremonies. Section play will also take place at Fendalton Bowling Club and Bowls Papanui, all finals and medal presentations will take place at Burnside Bowling Club.

Burnside Bowling Club will be the main headquarters for this event. Located 3km from Christchurch International airport and 7km from the central city the Burnside Bowling Club was established in 1963.

The club is located in the 70 acre Burnside on which a tented village will provide spectactor facilities. A 3000 seat areana will be built adjacent to the large clubhouse with restaurant and bar facilities.

Fendalton Bowling Club is located in a corner of Fendalton Park which is on the main road into Christchurch City from the Christchurch International Airport.

Fendalton is in the North West sector of Christchurch City, an area particularly well endowed with trees and gardens.

Handy is the Ilam University and the Fendalton Shopping Mall.

Christchurch is the major centre in the South Island of New Zealand.
